Ahead of our first league matches on Saturday, the club committee wanted to wish you the very best of luck for the season head.
There is much to be positive about, especially after Club Day and some great attendances at the first few weeks of training. It is great to see lots of new members joining our ranks along with a group of very talented young people transitioning into the adult section. We are working hard to develop and grow the club to make your experience of IES the best it can be.
Most of our teams are in action this weekend with the exception of the W2 & W4 who have to wait until next week. Our 1st teams are both back playing at the highest level the club has ever participated at, and both squads can expect a challenging but exciting season. Both the Men and Women 1st teams are playing away on Saturday but please try to get along to their future matches and cheer them on. All our teams deserve your support of course so please make an effort to stay at the club and cheer on other teams when you are not playing.
Please embrace being a member of the club, don’t just play and go home, join your team mates for teas, both home and away and please ensure you chat to the opposition and umpires. Please make the effort to support the club social programme (latest version attached.) A big thank you to Loraine and Harriet for arranging this.
On the pitch, please conduct yourselves as you would expect others to behave, be competitive of course, but please treat our opposition and umpires with respect at all times and be a really good example to all your colleagues, especially to our younger team members. Please wear the correct club kit with pride and ensure all our teams look the part.
Having dropped a men’s team there is the possibility that we will have big squads for some of the early men’s games, please bear with us as availability and selection settles down. This could also apply to the women’s section at times. However if you feel you are not getting the hockey you want, please speak to a club captain or feel free to call club chairman Charlie on 07811 336895. We really do strive to offer you the club and the hockey you want.
Important. Please read the recently agreed club policy on face masks for defending penalty corners highlighted below.
IES HC Policy for the wearing of face masks.
We strongly recommend that all players wear face masks when defending penalty corners. It is club policy that U18 players members must wear face masks whilst defending penalty corners . It is strongly recommended that U16 members do not defend penalty corners in adult matches.
(4 new facemasks have been given to all adult team captains / vice captains.) Players are of course free to provide & use their own protective equipment.)
Thank you – IESHC.
