IES men's 1st XI entertained a Cambridge City team who where looking to pick up points after a slow start to the season, this was to be a end to end game of fast hockey with both teams looking for all three points. The game started well for both teams but it was Cambridge that struck first only for IES to even the score shortly afterward, this was to be the way the game went from start to finish with Cambridge taken the lead only for IES to pull a goal back and the first half finished even.
The second half was much the same with both team attacking and creating chances and with the score at 3-3 with only a few minutes to go Cambridge were awarded a dubious short corner which they slotted home to make the score 3-4. IES still have time for one final attack with the shot just going wide. This was IES’s first defeat of the league season and a bitter pill to swallow after playing so well throughout the whole game.
Away to Dereham next week which will be a very difficult game against a good team.
