This week’s local derby game was always going to be a game both teams wanted to win but with IES sitting mid table and Ipswich close to the bottom both team also needed the points.
The game started brightly for IES who took the game to Ipswich from the whistle looking to take the lead early and with four goals in the first half from Scott Cole x 2, James Howe, Jon Tingey this was just what they were looking for, however Ipswich pulled one back just before half time making the score 4-1.
The second half was a scrappy affair with both teams working hard to score further goals but the defensive work meant that this was going to be difficult. There were additional chances created by both teams but neither team to take them, the second half remain in a stalemate but IES were more happy with the second half clean sheet as this meant all three point went to them.
Next week we travel to Felixstowe who have not lost a game all season and are top of the league but someone has to better them this year surely and why not IES.
