03-10-09 March Town 1st XI 3 v IES Men's 1st XI 3

IES men's 1st team travelled across the fens for there first league away game against March Town who also won there first league game of the season.
This is always a difficult fixture as it proved to be, IES travelled with 11 men and on the back of a fantastic performance were looking for another three points. IES were very slow out of the blocks and within 15 minutes they were already 2-0 down, this seemed to be the wake up call for them and they managed to pull one back before half-time with a reverse strike from Cole. The second half IES started to play better and although conceding another goal always looked like scoring, soon after Oakley made the score 3-2 and IES went searching for the equaliser. This eventual came with 5 minutes to spare after Cole fired in from a short corner.
Although IES did not play as well as they could do the team fighting spirit got them through and a well dissevered point to keep them in the leading pack.

Sudbury 1st at home next week, let hope IES are back to winning ways next week.

26-09-09 IES Men's 1st XI 10 v St Neots 1st XI 1

IES Men's 1st XI started the league campaign at home to recently relegated St Neots, this looked to be a difficult fixture on paper with them playing in Division 1 last season.
IES started the game brightly and took the game to St Neots from the whistle, moving the ball well and creating a number of chances, by half time the score was 6-1 to IES and they looked in full control although there was a 10 minute period that we went back to our old ways.

19-09-09 IES Men's 1st XI 0 v Colchester 1st XI 5

IES played there final friendly game of the season of the season against Colchester at home, this was another tough test for the team as again they play one division above us.
We started the game well playing the new way we are trying to enforced this season and we looked good but Colchester are also a good team and played come good hockey also. It was Colchester who took the lead although IES created chances also but were unable to convert any of them.

16-09-09 Ipswich Men's 2nd XI 1 - IES Men's 1st XI 1

IESHC Men took on Ipswich 2nd XI at Henley Rd in a midweek friendly, this was another good challenge for the team with Ipswich playing in Prem B this season.
The game started well for IES and they moved the ball around well using all of the pitch, the match was pretty much even with both teams creating opportunities but unable to convert them. It was not until a well worked free hit that was driven into the D for Tingey to deflect into the goal for IES to take the lead.

05-09-09 Felixstowe Men's 1st XI 4 - IES Men's 1st XI 0

IESHC men's first friendly game of the season saw them travel to the local sea side town of Felixstowe, this is one of many local derby games for the team and pride was at stake with them being in the same league also this season.
The game started well with IES looking to play with confidence this season and they moved the ball well at times playing some good passing moves and retaining possession.
