Health and Safety

At Ipswich East Suffolk Hockey Club, the wellbeing of young people is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for all our players — whether they are part of our junior section or under 18s playing in senior teams.

To support this commitment, the club follows England Hockey’s Safeguarding and Protecting Young People Policy and Guidance. This framework helps ensure that every child and young person in our club can take part in hockey with confidence, knowing their welfare is our priority.

If you are a parent, carer, or guardian and are ever unsure about practical arrangements — such as supervision, transport, coaching ratios, or the use of changing facilities when juniors play in adult teams — please speak to your team captain in the first instance.

Should you have a concern about a child’s safety or about the conduct of a coach, player, or official, please contact our Welfare Officer without delay. They will listen carefully, offer advice where appropriate, and take any necessary action. This may include passing concerns on to England Hockey, the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), or Children’s Social Care if required.

Your England Hockey membership fee (as part of being a member of our club) includes a Personal Accident policy in the case you suffer any injuries during training or any matches. Please see the link below to find out more details and put in a claim if needs be:
