Terms and Conditions

As a club affilated to England Hockey, we voluntarily subscribe to the framework of policies, rules, and governance that are outlined by our governing body. This includes but is not limited to disciplinary procedures, player conduct and members welfare.

Spirit of Hockey - Player Code of Conduct

The Code is intended to make hockey a safe, welcoming, and respectful sport for everyone — players, coaches, umpires, officials, volunteers, supporters and spectators alike. It aims to protect the welfare of participants and uphold the integrity and values of the sport, as well as our club. By committing to the Code, all involved accept a shared responsibility for maintaining a positive environment on and off the pitch — not only during matches but in all activities related to hockey.

The core principles include:

  • Respect & Inclusivity - We treat everyone with dignity and fairness, embracing people of all backgrounds, abilities and identities. We value diversity and ensure our club remains a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Fair Play & Sportsmanship - We play by the rules, respect decisions of officials, and show courtesy to opponents and teammates. We win with humility and lose with grace.
  • Integrity & Responsibility - We act honestly, uphold the highest standards of behaviour, and take responsibility for our actions. We look after our own safety, the safety of others, and the facilities and equipment we use.
  • Positive Contribution - We aim to have a positive impact on our club and the wider hockey community. We support one another, encourage good behaviour, and challenge actions that could harm others or bring the sport into disrepute.
  • Community & Ambassadorship - We recognise that we represent more than just ourselves — we represent our club and the sport. We strive to be good role models and ambassadors at matches, training, social events and online.

If you feel a player is not abiding by the Spirit of Hockey guidelines, please ensure you pass your concerns to a member of our executive committee or email complaints@ieshc.org. At IES, we take any complaints or concerns extremely seriously and will act in accordance with the disciplinary procedures outlined on England Hockey's website as appropriate.
